How To Win A Soul With A Gospel Tract

Distributing Gospel tracts is a wonderful way to win souls. (Or bring backsliders back to Christ). Some years ago I went into a fast food place. There was a young man about 20 years old there pan-handling who told me he was out of work and hungry. I put a few dollars into a gospel tract and gave it to him. He took a couple of steps toward the counter to get something to eat. Suddenly he stopped as if he had run into a brick wall. He turned around and told me in tears about how he had received Christ in his early teens but was not walking with the Lord.

What could impact a young man so quickly and powerfully? The first page of the gospel tract had a picture of Uncle Sam pointing at you. The picture had been used to recruit young men to enlist in the army. The caption originally read: “Uncle Sam Wants You!” The caption under the picture on the gospel tract said simply “God Wants You!”

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I have had many delightful experiences when giving out gospel tracts. Some smile and tell me they are already saved. Many thank me. Some reject the tract. That gives me a lost person or backslider to pray for. How else will we know who needs praying for, perhaps if they say vile things, if they are inconsiderate drivers, if they have out-of-control children, if they are robbing a bank? You get the idea. There are many more people who need to be prayed for than we pray for and there is no one who does not need to be prayed for.
